To me, my environment always has an impact on how I think, feel and act. The awe that grasps me when in the presence of a waterfall, or the challenge and adrenaline I associate with a mountain has proven to me that the power our planet possesses to evoke emotion is immense.
The image of Banff National Park is a great example of a landscape that captures not only our senses, but our minds and hearts. The powerful juxtapositions in the landscape between the harsh rock face and soothing Lake Moraine evoke a sense of excitement and wonder from within me.
Since the earliest times, “humans have needed to be sensitive to their surroundings to survive”, which means that we have an innate awareness of our environment and seek out environments with certain qualities. This further illustrates how we, as human beings are directly impacted by our environment.
As you stare at this landscape, or your favourite landscape, imagining it in your head, or giving it a quick google, what do you feel?
Do you feel strength or tranquility, or something else? Whatever it may be, I challenge you to embody the power of your environment.
Your emotions and actions have an effect on those around you, they can change and develop a situation and the way others view you; creating the future, so use them to develop your goals and ambitions for not just you but also your community.
Make an impact, like your environment has on you.
